Typically, people visit Google to help them solve a problem or they’re looking for a specific product. In the recent years, Google became even more strict. Google launched 2 main search engine filters known as Google Panda and Google Penguin updates. Over the years, I’ve gotten very far with my on-page SEO strategy. You’d be surprised: Smart on-page SEO and especially internal link structure can get you amazing results in search engines. If you've improved the crawling and indexing of your site using Google Webmasters Tools or other services, you're probably curious about
the traffic coming to your site. Web analytics programs like Google Analytics are a valuable source of insight for this. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is arguably the most commonly used method for increasing the flow of traffic through a site.
Make sure your website is indexed in Google
Principally, technical SEO is concerned with how a website works, and how search engines are able to crawl and index our pages. Think of technical SEO as the foundations of your site – without it, whatever beautiful building you create won’t be as sturdy as you’d like. Find potential websites to acquire links from. To do this, we want to go to our trusty Google search and conduct a few searches. These searches use a hidden feature of Google called “Search Operators.” The search operators can be used to drill down on concepts with Google and provide you additional options to find webpages. You should use large header tags and take advantage of CSS to alter these to fit into the style and colour scheme of your page. If you are using software such as Microsoft SharePoint Designer/FrontPage or Adobe Dreamweaver for example, these CSS details are created automatically for you. A solution which is also perhaps advisable is to make your CSS an external file; this way there is no need to repeat all of your CSS statements on each page, but simply just one. Google is good at crawling all types of URL structures, even if they're
quite complex, but spending the time to make your URLs as simple as
possible for both users and search engines can help. Every search engine has a program
known as a “bot” or “crawler”. These programs follow links
and visit websites. As they do so, they index website content
and follow the links on the website to other sites. If your
website has not yet been indexed, it will not appear in search
Improve site speed
To remain focused, don’t go after too many platforms, just be persistent with right platform related to your business. Search engines decide rankings on what is called the results page. You will sometimes see me use the term SERP, which is the acronym for Search Engine Results Page. In a Google search, the search engine makes its decisions based on signals from websites and the person searching. The search engine crawler analyzes the raw HTML form of a web page. All pages on your website should be available with a maximum of four clicks from any other page of your site. A good method to achieve that goal is to limit the categories on your website to three levels. Optimising your website to rank higher on search engines is an important strategy to maintain online relevance in today’s digital era.
Where to start, I have so many pages?
We asked an SEO Specialist, Gaz Hall, for his thoughts on the matter: "While there’s no denying the power of paid marketing channels such as Google AdWords, establish your organic presence and you will likely find your most profitable marketing channel. " Examination of content keywords and present engine rankings of competitive websites to determine an effective engine positioning strategy. If you want your content to stand out from the glut of online content and attract the kind of shares and links that boost search rankings, you’ve got to create epic content or “10X Content”. Most of the content that ranks in the top 10 of Google is over 2000 words in length, so you need to create long-form content. People won't link to your content unless they see it. At the same time, you need the right people in front of your content; not everyone is a potential linker. At the same time, you also need to consider something called ‘LSI’ or ‘Latent Semantic Indexing’. This is basically a fancy term that explains how Google now understands actual meaning rather than just looking to match words. The way it does this is at least partly by looking for synonyms and related terms when trying to answer questions. In short, don’t just use the exact keyphrase but be sure to use lots of relevant and related language.
Why are backlinks important?
What SMEs haven’t realised yet, is the fact that users are changing their user search behaviour in search engines (when they perform a query) on their mobiles or tablets. SEO has matured. It is a serious business, and most brands invest a lot of time and effort into it. Using a variety of free online tools such as Google AdWords, Keyword Keg and Bing Ads, website owners can easily find research which words are being searched for most frequently in a number of search engines. Forget dense blocks of text with no images. Instead, create content with lots of headers, that’s well spaced out and that uses large beautiful pictures throughout. In terms of the actual writing, try to use a narrative structure where possible to really pull people in. Tell a story, use cliff hangers and make it impossible for your visitors not to move down to the next line! Longer search phrases are the natural progression of the Internet population boom. As more and more information is placed online, it becomes increasingly difficult to find exactly what you're looking for.
Landing page and site user experience
Instead of looking for one-off guest blogging opportunities the entire time, look for opportunities that could win you regular contributions to a single blog or your own column. These links look very natural, you can get multiple high quality links a month, and if the blog has a decent audience, you'll send a bit of traffic through those links too. When writing your content, be realistic about the chances of that content to rank. If you are in a highly competitive market, content works very well as a marketing tool and/or as input for social media. But it will probably not get you that number one spot in Google, and that’s fine. Manage your expectations. One of two things can happen when you begin an SEO campaign, you can jump in blind and guess your way through the process or you can create a partnership with a company that wants to work alongside you to improve your SEO rankings. Google sees a subdomain as a different website, while a subdirectory is just a part of your main site. This is important, because your site may have a load of link juice and authority. More of that will carry over to a subdirectory than a subdomain. Google cares the most about editorial links, or links included in article body copy, and they place particular emphasis on in-content links over links in sidebars, footers, or other places on your website.
